The Lunenburg Historical Society will reopen to the public Wednesday, July 21, following a sixteen-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Society’s research and museum facilities will be open from 9:00 a.m. to noon every Wednesday, or by appointment made during open hours by calling 978-582-0858.
Visitors who are not fully vaccinated are asked to comply with CDC and Massachusetts Department of Public Health advisories to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Visitors are also requested to register their attendance when entering and leaving the building.
The postponed annual meeting of June 2020 and the first educational program since reopening will be held as soon as arrangements can be made. The program will be scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M., featuring the Society’s curator, Jennifer Sanderson presenting a new rendition of “Lunenburg’s Hedda Hopper” originally scheduled for April of 2020.
Applications for membership in the Society will be available, as will copies of “Lunenburg – The Heritage of Turkey Hills,” a history of Lunenburg, published by the Society. Books are priced at $10 each, but are given free with paid new membership applications. Free personal tours of the Society’s Museum will also be available for new members.
